     The Patriot volleyball team (16-4, 4-1 MSC) hit the road on Tuesday night as they swept Mid-South rival Campbellsville University (5-10, 1-4 MSC) 3-0.

     The Patriots got off to a hot start in the first set as they doubled up the Tigers at 10-5. The Patriots continued their strong start as they stretched their lead out to 20-11. Then trailing at 11-20 the Tigers would battle back as they scored the next six points to cut the lead to 17-20 forcing the Patriots to take a timeout. The Patriots came out of the timeout and scored the next two extending their lead to 22-17. The Tigers would answer with an 8-3 run to tie the set at 25 apiece, but after back-to-back Tiger errors, the Patriots won the first set 27-25.

     In the second set, it was the Tigers who got off to a hot start taking an early 8-3 lead. The Patriots were able to battle back to cut the lead to 13-11. The Tigers then went on a 5-1 run to take the lead at 18-12. Then junior hitter Rebecca Just (Louisville, Ky.) sparked a 9-1 run with three kills for the Patriots who took the lead at 21-19. The Tigers battled back to tie it at 23-23, but after a kill by Cat Hall (Louisville, Ky.) and an error on the Tigers, the Patriots took the second set 25-23.

     The third set started as both teams battled back and forth. Then with the Tigers leading at 10-7, the Patriots went on a 4-0 run to take the lead at 11-10. The Tigers then answered with a 6-1 run as they regained the lead at 16-12. The Patriots were able to battle back and tie the set at 21 apiece. The two teams then battled back and forth to another tie at 28-28, but after back-to-back errors on the Tigers the Patriots took the third set 30-28 and the match 3-0.

     The Patriot hitters were led by Rebecca Just who tallied 11 kills and hit .206. Cat Hall and Jessie Stone (Princeton, Ky.) pitched in with six kills each. Jordan Strickland (Lexington, Ky.) led the Patriot setters with 30 assists for the match. Jodie Klein (Louisville, Ky.) recorded 15 digs and three aces on the night. Rebecca Just recorded her 12th double-double on the season with 11 kills and ten digs.

     The volleyball team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 30 when they host Cumberland University at 7 PM.
