St. Catharine College Baseball welcomed back former Patriots last weekend for their annual Alumni weekend of baseball and golf. Two plus inches of rain over the weekend dampened the attendance, but not the spirits of those on hand.
"It's always great seeing former Patriots," stated SC skipper Luther Bramblett. "We had players from my first team in 2002, 2014 members and several in the middle years. It's fun catching up with them, telling stories and reliving the glory days of their college career and experience here in Purple and Gold."
Although the weather kept the alums off the playing surface, they did get to utilize the newest facility at Edelen-Haydon Field, the covered hitting area. Pitchers took their turn throwing to live hitters with radar readings yelled out. After lunch, they all went to the golf course and chased the little ball around. The team of Brett Masterson, Ryan Knight, Joe Van Hooser and Kevin Dusold took the title with a 6 under round.
"The weather affected the turnout," noted Bramblett. "We had a little over 20 commit to coming, but those that made it had a great time. Some guys haven't been back since they played, 9-10 years ago and they were amazed with what the campus and facility had become - which is always great to hear."
