     The Patriot women’s golf team was in action on Monday and Tuesday as they competed in the 2014 MSC St. Catharine Fall Invitational at Maywood Golf Course located in Bardstown, Ky.

     Ashley McKenty (Benton, Ky.) led the Patriots as she shot a 97 in the opening round. McKenty improved by three strokes in the second round as she shot a 94. She finished with a two round total of 191.

     Brianna Cornett (Danville, Ky.) also fared well at Maywood. Cornett finished one stroke behind teammate McKenty; Cornett shot a 94 in the first round, she struggled in the second where she shot a 98. Cornett finished with a two round total of 192.

     Taylor Ritchie (Winchester, Ky.) showed improvement over the two day event. Ritchie shot a 98 in the opening round, but she did finish strong with a 97 in the final round. She shot a two day total of 195.

     The Patriots as a team finished the first round with a 394. They did, however, show improvement in the final round as they shot a 392.

     Fellow Mid-South Conference member, Cumberlands (Ky.) won the tournament with a two round total of 627. Cumberland (Tenn.), also a MSC member finished in second place with a two day total of 664.

     The Patriots will return to action on October 25 when they will wrap up their fall season with a trip to Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain located in Crossville, Tenn. where they will compete in the Bryan College Invitational.
