The Gold Team wins the Fall World Series, beating Team Purple 6-5 today for the sweep. Team Purple will now entertain the student body with a talent show in the coming weeks.
"What a great weekend," noted Gold Team skipper Patrick Hyde. "Our guys competed hard and battled back several times when down. We look forward to watching Coach Turpin and Team Purple in the talent show."
Freshman Nathan Getzin (Louisville, KY) picked up the win, going 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Alex Knowles (Huntington Beach, CA) and Daniel Lerma (Oxnard, CA) finished the game for Gold. Lerma picked up the save, tossing the final 2.1 innings, allowing no runs. David Lira (Sylmar, CA) picked up the loss for Team Purple, going 4.2 innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned). James Davenport (Louisville, KY) tossed the final 3.1 innings, allowing no runs.
In the back and forth affair, team Gold was led by Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezuela) who went 3-4 with 2 runs and 3 stolen bases. Marc Mason (Tehama, CA) walked twice and scored both times and Lamont Calloway (Louisville, KY) went 1-2 with a run. Dominique Guevara (Oxnard, CA) added an RBI base knock.
Team Purple was led by Carlos Cespedes (Santo Domingo, DR) who went 2-4 with 2 doubles and scored 2 runs. Eric Walker (Rockford, IL) went 2-5 with a run and Nick Rosso (Sanat Barbara, CA) added a 2-3 day with a RBI. Evan Smith (Jacksonville, FL) went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI's.
The series brings the fall portion of team practice to an end. The Patriots will now turn to the weight and condition portion of practice. The talent show will be announced at a later date.
