POWELL DOES IT AGAIN
For the fourth time this season CJ Powell was honored as the Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The Louisville, Ky. native appeared in two games last week for the Patriots. In the first game of the week Powell, stopped the only shot he faced in 82 minutes in goal. Powell and the rest of the Patriots kept Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) off the scoreboard as they defeated the Golden Eagles 5-0. Then on Saturday, Powell preserved his fifth shutout of the season in a 1-0 win against Oakland City University. Powell kept the Mighty Oaks off the scoreboard while recording five saves in 90 minutes in goal.
The senior goalkeeper ranks second in the Mid-South allowing just one goal a game.
Powell also ranks second in the MSC with 65 saves on the season. Powell helped the Patriots go 2-0 last week to move to 10-5 and 4-2 in the Mid-South. The Patriots are currently in a tie for third place in the MSC with one conference match remaining.
The Patriot men’s soccer team will travel to Brescia University on Thursday at 7 PM. Powell and the rest of the Patriot Seniors will be honored for Senior Day on Saturday when they host Shawnee State University in their final home match of the season at 4 PM.
