With the MLB Fall Classic coming to an end, St. Catharine College Baseball has announced their spring 2015 schedule, the next baseball season is right around the corner. 33 home games at Edelen-Haydon Field highlight this year's slate.
"We're excited about the schedule," noted Patriot mentor Luther Bramblett. "We have a number of home weekends for our fans to see us in action. And, obviously our Mid-South Conference games are must see events."
The Patriots will open again in Mobile, AL at the University of Mobile on February 6th for a four game set. They will have a day off and travel to Jackson, MS to play Belhaven University on Monday the 9th.
"Both Mobile and Belhaven are strong programs and we'll know early how we stand and what we need to work on to improve for conference play."
The Pats return home for a four weekend home stretch before the opening conference weekend. They will host Cardinal Stritch University, Calumet College of St. Joseph, Cornerstone University and Viterbo University, all new teams to the schedule.
"We have four straight home stands with new opponents. We like playing different teams, styles and competition from other conferences and these teams will definitely help prepare us for our MSC schedule."
The Mid-South Conference schedule opens on March 13th when the Patriots host Shawnee State University. For the next six weekends, the Bat Pats will compete against some of the best teams in the country. SC will host Georgetown College and The University of the Cumberlands and will travel to Cumberland University, Campbellsville University, University of Pikeville and Lindsey Wilson College.
"Our conference is one of the toughest in the country and each weekend is so important. Our schedule is unbalanced this year, so we'll be on the road for 3 straight weekends - 4 overall, so it will be a tough road this year."
The mid-week action looks to be exciting as well. In state rivals Asbury University, Brescia University, Kentucky State University and Union College are back on the schedule for home and home dates. A pair of Indiana institutions are back on slate as well, with Indiana University Southeast and Oakland City College playing in home and home tilts and Cincinnati Clermont is back for a home date.
"Our mid-week games are important to keep our guys sharp, both at the plate and on the mound. All of these teams are quality programs and will help keep us sharp."
