RESERVE SQUAD ENDS SEASON
Finish with a 6-1-1 record.
The Patriot Women's Soccer Reserve Squad finished their season this week with two matches.
In the first match, against Elizabethtown Community College (ECTC), the Patriots took an early lead when Chelsey Landrum crossed a ball into the ECTC box to Macy Higdon, who kicked it home for the score. The 1-0 lead held up until late in the 2nd half. A counter attack by ECTC pushed the ball into the St. Catharine end and resulted in a throw in for ECTC. On the throw, the ball was dropped back to Adrienne Buckles, who lofted a shot up and over Patriot Goalkeeper Jerrica Kidd to tie the match at 1. Despite several late chances, the Patriots were unable to strike again and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The second match was at Centre College. After losing at St. Catharine earlier in the season without the benefit of subs, Centre dressed 15 players and took the action right to St. Catharine. The Patriots allowed 3 goals in the first half and 2 in the second to drop the game by a 5-0 score. The loss was the first on the season for the Reserve Squad.
The Reserves finished the year with a best ever 6-1-1 record. Coach Patton commented, "It's tough to lose the last match of the season, but the players worked hard and we ended up with a great record on the season and they have a lot to be proud of. We'll work hard off season and hopefully keep improving for 2015."
