As the men's soccer team traveled back from St. Louis on Monday, the reality started to set in. The team achieved the best season in the program's history with a regular season record of 13 wins and just 5 losses and tied for second in the Mid-South Conference. They were projected seventh in the preseason poll.
After the 4-1 victory at Harris Stowe University it was announced that Senior goalkeeper CJ Powell, won the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this season and Max Bristow was awarded Offensive Player of the Week. This was the 8th time a St Catharine men's soccer player was given this award this season. Ashley Woods has also won the award 2 times this season. Woods will finish the regular season with 18 goals and 6 assists for a total of 42 points. He will leave St Catharine the All-Time Leader in Goals (46), Points (112), Games Played (69) and Second All-Time in Assists (16). He is currently ranked nationally 3rd in Game Winning Goals. Powell will also finish as the All-Time Leader at St Catharine in Wins, Shutouts, and Goals Against Average.
With the success of the season, SCC will seed third for the Conference Tournament and will host Shawnee State at the Barber Soccer Complex at 3 p.m. on Saturday November 8th. The semi-finals and finals will be held November 14-15 at Campbellsville University.
