The Patriot volleyball team is having their best season in the program’s history compiling the most wins in a single season. Their recognition for their season continued when they racked up the awards at the Mid-South Conference banquet last Friday.

The most notable of the awards was won by Jodie Klein. Klein a junior libero from Louisville, Ky. was voted as the Mid-South Conference Libero of the Year award. The libero is a defensive specialist that must wear a different color jersey from their teammates and cannot block or attack the ball when it is entirely above the net. Klein is in her second season with the Patriots and came to the team as a transfer from Murray State University. She ranks 18th in the nation with 5.660 digs per game and ranks 27th with 651 digs on the season.

The volleyball team also had a good showing for the Mid-South Conference First Team. Rebecca Just, Jodie Klein, Allie Southard, and Jordan Strickland were all named to the first team. Just, Klein, and Strickland are juniors while Southard is the lone senior.

The Patriots had a pair of players named to the Mid-South Conference Second Team. Shauna Stone, a senior from Bardstown, Ky. and Casey Stone, a senior from Louisville, Ky. were each named to the second team.

Not only did the Patriots perform well on the court, but they also excelled in the classroom. Rebecca Just, Jodie Klein, Casey Stone, and Shauna Stone were all named to the Academic All Mid-South Conference. To receive the honor the student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
