The women’s basketball squad ended their five game skid with a 94-87 win over the Milligan (Tenn.) Buffaloes. With the win the Patriots swept the season series against the Buffaloes after they defeated them on November 5th, 59-54.

Cora Moore (Louisville, Ky.) notched a career high with 26 points on the night. She also tied a career high hitting five of seven from long range. Heather Sandlin (Florence, Ky.) flirted with a triple-double with 13 points, nine assists, and six boards. Perhaps the most important stat in Sandlin’s stat line is she had zero turnovers for the night. Three others joined Moore and Sandlin notching double figures.

The Patriots led by two at 17-15 halfway through the opening frame. The Patriots quickly opened their lead to 11 on a 9-0 run fueled by a pair of field goals by Moore and a trey by Kayla Wilson (Corbin, Ky.). The Buffaloes cut the lead to five with 4:13 left in the half, but after a three by Moore and threes by the Wilson twins the lead quickly swelled back to 14. The Buffaloes cut the lead to 45-36 at half.

The Buffaloes started the second half with a quick 9-0 run to tie the game just three minutes into the second half. The Buffaloes took a three point lead at 56-53, but the Patriots stormed back with a 16-6 run to take a seven point lead, 69-62 with 10 minutes left. The Buffaloes cut into the lead, but the Patriots hit their freebies down the stretch to record a 94-87 win.

The Patriots will return to conference play this Thursday when they travel to Lebanon, Tenn. to take on Cumberland University. The Bulldogs are receiving votes in the latest polls.
