PATRIOTS TAKE DOWN THE BULLDOGS
The men’s basketball team picked up their second win of the season against the Bulldogs of Wilberforce University. The Patriots squeaked out an 81-77 win against the home team.
The Patriots now 2-7, were led by Brandon Bobb Jones (Wilmington, Del.) and Ben Vozzola (Las Vegas, Nev.) who tied the game high with 16 points. Jones and Vozzola were efficient from the field converting on six of their seven shot attempts. As a team the Patriots shot 56.9% from the field including 50% from the three.
The Patriots got off to a hot start in the opening frame shooting 64.3% from the field. They converted on five of their nine three point attempts, good enough for 55.6%. The Bulldogs shot 44.8% from the field, but trailed 44-34 at halftime.
The Patriots cooled off a little in the second half shooting 50% from the field and 42% from the three. The Bulldogs made it interesting late, but the Patriots were able to hit their freebies when they counted to pick up the 81-77 win.
The Patriots return to conference play tonight when they travel to Lebanon, Tenn. to take on Cumberland University.
