Amanda Thies, a striker from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, became the latest member of the St. Catharine Women's Soccer team when she signed her NAIA scholarship contract today.
Thies played striker for Coach Tom Morgan's Lady Bulldogs squad that finished 2014 with a 17-7 record, a second place finish in the 43rd District, and an 11th Region Championship. Amanda also played striker for Commonwealth Soccer Club and was named a Salt River all-state player.
Amanda's college goals are to make friends, earn a degree in psychology, and work in social services after graduation. "I look forward to playing for my top college choice and earning my spot on the team," noted Thies.
Patriot Coach Paul Patton, present for the signing, commented, "Amanda is a strong player and a good student that will be an asset to our program and to St. Catharine College. She comes from a very competitive high school program and knows how to compete. I am very excited that she has chosen to join us at St. Catharine!"
