The Patriot wrestlers are gearing up for the regional tournament in a couple of weeks, but that hasn’t stopped Spencer Adams and Gary Canter from hitting the road recruiting.
Adams and Canter recently received another commitment for next season. Andy Dobben recently committed to join the Patriot wrestling program for the 2015-16 season. Dobben a senior from Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy located in Stow, Ohio. He is originally from Barberton, Ohio.
Dobben has a list of accomplishments that would be hard for any wrestler to beat. He is currently ranked 19th overall out of over 11,000 wrestlers in the state of Ohio. Andy is a two time state placer in the state of Ohio and he is a two time conference champion. Dobben recently won the 145-pound Top Gun crown, where he was awarded the Carson “Kit” Baucum Outstanding Wrestling Award. Andy recently finished as a runner up at the Brecksville Invitational Holiday Wrestling Tournament.
Head Coach Spencer Adams expressed his excitement from the commitment, “Andy is a great addition to this program as we move forward toward our goal of winning a national title within the first three years. He is an outstanding wrestler and has proven that, not only is he national champion material, but he is also capable of being a leader in the classroom and on campus. I am excited to work with him and the other future Patriots of the 15-16’ class to becoming national champions on and off the mat and earning a high quality education.”
Andy’s mom, Kim Dobben, also expressed her excitement, “We are very excited to become part of the Patriot family. The sense of community on campus as well as the strong academics was important to us in helping Andy make his college decision.”
Andy said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a wrestling program where succeeding both academically and athletically is a priority.”
Dobben will join the “Grappling Patriots” in August 2015 when the fall semester begins.
