The Patriots (6-6) traveled south again Sunday, moving their home games to Knoxville, Tenn for a DH with Viterbo University. The Pats split the games, winning the opener (7-0) and losing the nightcap (12-4).
SC 7 - VU 0
John Werner (Anaheim, CA) tossed his second consecutive complete game shutout and in the process picked up his 3rd win on the year. Werner allowed an infield single and walked one while tallying 12 punch outs.
The Patriot hitters swung hot bats as well, stacking up 13 hits and plating runs in all but one inning. Dominique Guevara (Oxnard, CA) went 2-3 with 3 RBI's for the Pats and Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) added a 2-4 game with 2 RBI's. Drew Kissel (Jeffersonville, IN) had a 2-4 game with a double and Santiago Arce (Chula Vista, CA) went 2-4 with a double and RBI. Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezuela) reached base 4 times, going 1-1 with 2 walks and a HBP. He stole a bag and scored 3 runs. Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) added a 2-4 game.
VU 12 - SC 4
In the nightcap, the V-Hawks (1-1) were the ones swinging the hot bats. Steven Borkowski (San Diego, CA) took the loss, going 4 innings and allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits. Borkowski walked 4. Daniel Lerma (Oxnard, CA) tossed 2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks and James Davenport (Louisville, KY) tossed a perfect 7th.
Alfredo Bohorquez led the Patriots going 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI's, a run and a stolen base. Harold Diaz went 1-2 with a RBI and walked twice. Francisco Gonzalez added a 3-4 game with a double.
