PATRIOTS WALKOFF THE BEARS IN 11 INNINGS

It took 11 innings Monday, but the Patriots outlasted the Bears on a walkoff bases loaded single by Tyler Devine (Harrodsburg, KY) scoring Lamont Calloway (Louisville, KY). St. Catharine sweeps the MSC opening series and moves to (10-6, 3-0 MSC) on the year.

Daniel Lerma (Oxnard, CA) gave up a run in the first inning then pitched 9 shutout innings. He tossed 10 innings and scattered 8 hits, walking 2 and striking out 7. James Davenport (Louisville, KY) tossed the 11th and picked up the win in relief.

In the 11th, Dominique Guevara (Oxnard, CA) walked and was pinch ran for by Calloway. With an out, Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) reached on a fielders choice and Carlos Cespedes (Santo Domingo, DR) walked to load the bases. Tyler Devine singled through the 6 hole and a five man infield on the first pitch for the game winner.

The Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the 8th inning when Lamont Calloway attempted to steal 3rd with 2 outs and Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) singled past the moving third baseman. Francisco Gonzalez went 2-4 for the only double digit hit game. Tyler Devine went 1-2 with a RBI and Harold Diaz had a knock and RBI. The Patriots had 8 hits in the game and left 11 on base.

SC is back in action Tuesday with a DH at Brescia University in Owensboro, KY.
