The Patriots are taking advantage of dry and warm weather, playing their 4th and 5th game in the last three days today, sweeping Brescia University (11-1 and 4-3) in Owensboro, KY. The Pats got two strong outings from freshmen on the mound in route to the sweep.

SC 11 - BU 1
The Patriot bats erupted for 11 runs on 13 hits, but the strong performance by freshman Conner Lindsay (Nicholasville, KY) was the story in game one. Lindsay tossed 7 innings and scattered 3 hits, the first coming in the bottom of the 5th inning. He struck out 1, walked 1 and allowed a run in the 5th.

Josh Wenning (Palmyra, IN) led the way for the Bat Pats, going 3-4 with a double, RBI and 2 runs. Tyler Devine (Harrodsburg, KY) went 2-4 with a double and 2 runs and Dominique Guevara (Oxnard, CA) added a 2-5 game with a double and 2 RBI's.

SC 4 - BU 3
In the nightcap, SC turned it over to another freshman, Nathan Getzin (Louisville, KY), for his first college start. He hurled 6 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs on 7 hits. Tyler Jones (Huntington Beach, CA) tossed the 7th, allowing a run on 1 hit to pick up the save.

Down 2-0, the Patriots plated a run in the 4th on a walk by Santiago Arce (Chula Vista, CA) and a RBI double by Carlos Cespedes (Santo Domingo, DR). It stayed that way until the top of the 7th, when the Bat Pats scored 3 runs on 0 hits, 4 walks, a wild pitch and an error with Santiago Arce getting the only RBI in the inning.

Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) went 1-2 with a double and Dominique Guevara and Drew Kissel (Jeffersonville, IN) were the only others with base knocks. The Patriots did draw 7 base on balls in the game.

St. Catharine is back in action on Wednesday at home, hosting UC-Clermont in a single 9 inning affair at 3:00.
