St. Catharine (13-6) moved their win streak to seven games today, outlasting UC-Clermont 6-4. Strong pitching was again the recipe for success with Austin Willis-Greene (Manhattan, NY) going 7 innings and picking up his first win.
The bats were silent for both teams most of the day, with SC getting 5 total hits and UCC tallying just 3. Willis-Greene had one pitch get away for a grand slam in the 6th inning by Nick King for his only runs in the contest. He gave up 3 earned in 7 innings with 2 K's and 2 walks. James Davenport (Louisville, KY) picked up his first save on the year tossing the final 2 innings, allowing no base runners and punching out 1.
At the dish, the Patriots were led by Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) who went 1-3 with a solo shot and scored 2 runs, adding 2 stolen bases. Tyler Devine (Harrodsburg, KY) added a 1-4 day with 2 runs scored. Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezuela) went 1-2 with a run and 2 stolen bases. Santiago Arce (Chula Vista, CA) went 0-2 with a sac fly and scored a run.
The Pats are back in action this weekend when they hit the road in the Mid-South Conference traveling to Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN. The Patriots will play Saturday at 12:00 and Sunday at 1:00.
