PATRIOT BATS COME ALIVE TO BEAT THE 'BREDS

St. Catharine College (17-7) scored single runs in the 6th + 7th innings and used a 6 run 8th to down Kentucky State University today (8-4) in Frankfort.

Starter Derek Jones (Mt. Washington, KY) tossed 5 innings, scattering 4 hits and allowed 2 unearned runs. He tallied 4 K's and had no walks. Austin Willis-Greene (Manhattan, NY) hurled 3 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, punching out 4. Dylan Manley (Frankfort, KY) tossed the final frame, allowing a run on 3 hits.

The Patriots chipped into the lead with a run in the 6th when Santiago Arce (Chula Vista, CA) doubled home Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) who reached on a walk. In the 7th, Drew Kissel (Jeffersonville, IN) doubled home Josh Wenning (Palmyra, IN) who reached on a fielder's choice.

In the 8th inning, the Bat Pats exploded for 6 runs highlighted by a Tyler Devine (Harrodsburg, KY) 2 run homerun. Drew Kissel added another RBI double as well.

Kissel led the Patriots going 3-5 with a run, 2 RBI's and 3 doubles. Santiago Arce went 3-5 with 2 doubles, a run and a RBI. Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) and Carlos Cespedes (Santo Domingo, DR) both scored a run and had 2 hits each.

SC is back in action this weekend when they host Georgetown College in a MSC series.
