PATRIOTS CUT DOWN THE OAKS IN SWEEP

St. Catharine College (21-9) took down the visiting Oaks of Oakland City University today, sweeping a double header 12-0 and 7-5. The Patriots look to take that momentum into their weekend series with #18 Campbellsville University.

SC 12 - OCU 0

Freshman Conner Lindsay (Nicholasville, KY) moved to (2-0) on the year, tossing 6 shutout innings. He allowed  3 hits and worked around 4 base on balls, while punching out 4. Alex Knowles (Huntington Beach, CA) tossed the final frame, allowing a hit and striking out 3.

Dominique Guevara (Oxnard, CA) led the Patriots at the plate, going 3-4 with 3 RBI's and scoring a run. Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) went 2-3 with 3 RBI's, a double and scored twice. Cody Kollenberg (PeeWee Valley, KY) went 3-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's. Josh Wenning (Palmyra, IN) added a 1-2 game with 2 runs and a RBI. The Patriots banged out 14 hits in the game with every starter picking up a base knock.

SC 7 - OCU 5

In the nightcap, the Patriots had to answer Oak rallies twice to finally nail down the sweep. Lamont Calloway (Louisville, KY) scored the game winner in the bottom of the 4th on a wild pitch. Dominique Guevara followed with a 2 out hit scoring Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezuela) for the final margin.

In the 3rd inning, Guevara singled and scored on a Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) triple and Gonzalez scored on an error on the throw home. In the bottom of the 1st, the Patriots jumped ahead of the Oaks behind 3 walks, 2 hit batters and a balk.

Dominique Guevara went 2-2 with a run and 2 RBI's. Francisco Gonzalez went 1-2 with a run and 2 RBI's. Tyler Devine (Harrodsburg, KY) and Josh Wenning both went 1-3 for the only other base hits.

Derek Jones (Mt. Washington, KY) started and went 2.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 4 walks. He had 4 K's. Austin Willis-Greene (Manhattan, NY) tossed 1.1 innings, allowing 2 runs in a hit and 3 walks, picked up the win and goes to (3-0) on the season. Nathan Getzin (Louisville, KY) tossed 2 shutout innings and James Davenport (Louisville, KY) picked up the save (2) with a scoreless 7th inning.

The Patriots are heading to Campbellsville University this weekend for a 3 game Mid-South Conference series.
