COLUMBIA, Ky. – St. Catharine's (Ky.) Harold Diaz is the Mid-South Conference Baseball Player of the Week the weekly honor is the second of the season for Diaz.
Diaz hit safely in all five St. Catharine games last week, including four multi-hit games to earn conference player of the week honors.
The Gurabo, Puerto Rico, senior outfielder posted a .632 batting average (12-for-19) with seven runs and eight RBIs last week while helping the Patriots to a 5-0 week.
Diaz was a perfect 6-for-6 with four RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Union (Ky.). Over the weekend, Diaz had three hits -- including a walk-off single -- in a 9-8 series-opening win against Cumberlands (Ky.). He followed with a 2-for-5 game with two runs, a RBI and a stolen base in a 6-2 win.
In the series finale, Diaz went 1-for-4 with a RBI double in a 9-8 win.
Since April 11, Diaz is batting .520 (26-of-50) to raise his season batting average to .336.
Diaz ranks fifth in the Mid-South in RBIs (41) and doubles (13). He is sixth in on-base percentage (.457), eighth in runs (39) and ninth in stolen bases (12).
St. Catharine finishes the regular season with a 32-13 overall record, including 15-5 in the Mid-South Conference.
