"We're excited to get going," stated Luther Bramblett. "Shawnee State is a good club, don't let their seed or record fool you, they are well coached, have some quality arms and their lineup can score runs in bunches. We'll have to play well to advance."
The Patriots (32-13, 15-5 MSC) swept the Bears in the first weekend of conference play. SSU (17-27, 7-13 MSC) finished in 8th place, but has wins over #1 seed Campbellsville University and #3 seed Lindsey Wilson College as well as taking the series from Cumberland University.
The Patriots have their best record in conference play (15-5) since joining the league in 2009. The Pats are 3rd with a .304 batting average and 2nd in ERA with a 3.23 mark. They lead the MSC with a .962 fielding percentage.
The tournament will be played in Bowling Green, KY at the Bowling Green Park, host of the Hot Rods - a single A affiliate of Tampa Bay.
