Mid-South Conference officials released the 2015 Mid-South Conference Softball Tournament over the weekend.
The eight team double-elimination tournament will begin on Thursday, April 30th, with eight games scheduled to take place. The Patriots will enter the tournament as the fifth seed. They will take on fourth-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) in the opening round on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.
The Patriots will enter the tournament with a 17-25 record overall and an 11-15 record in the Mid-South Conference. Holly Smith’s squad will enter the tournament riding a five game-winning streak. Pikeville enters the tournament with a 19-17 record overall and an 11-13 record in the MSC.
If the Patriots were to come away with a win over the Bears they will advance in the winner’s bracket and play again at 5 p.m. ET against either Shawnee State (Ohio) or Campbellsville (Ky.). If they were to lose they will move to the consolation bracket and play again at 5 p.m. ET against the Campbellsville/Shawnee State loser.
The two teams have met four times this season with each team coming away with two victories. In the opening doubleheader on April 11th, the Patriots came away with a 2-1 victory then, in the second game they dropped a 2-1 decision in eight innings. The two teams concluded the series on April 12th where Pikeville got the best of St. Catharine 4-2 in the opener, but the Patriots battled back and won the second game 6-1.
Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson enter the tournament as the one and two seed, respectively. The tournament will take place at Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, Ky.
