The Patriot softball team was in action today for the second time when they played Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in the finals of the Mid-South Conference Softball Tournament. Earlier today, they defeated Campbellsville (Ky.) to advance to the finals, but their run came up short when they dropped a 9-0 decision to the Blue Raiders.

Holly Smith’s team finishes the season with a 20-27 record overall and an 11-15 record in the Mid-South Conference. The Patriots got hot near the end of their schedule winning eight of their final 10.

The Patriots struggled to get any offense going against the Blue Raiders (45-6). They were only able to tally two hits in the game. Lindsey Wilson on the other hand, recorded nine runs on 13 hits. The Blue Raiders scored in five of the six innings they batted. They scored one in the first, three in the second and third innings, and single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Krystal Cammuse (Frankfort, Ky.) started for the Patriots, but only lasted two innings. Cammuse – who threw 128 pitches earlier today against Campbellsville – allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits. She ends the season with a 10-15 record in the circle.

Brittany McKee (Somerset, Ky.) entered the game in the third and allowed five runs – four earned – on eight hits in her three innings of work. Tiffany Wickline (Georgetown, Ky.) pitched the bottom of the sixth for Patriots and allowed just one hit.

Jordan Hood was lights out for the Blue Raiders. Hood pitched a complete game allowing just two hits and two walks. She didn’t allow a hit until the sixth inning when Brandi Hood (Bardstown, Ky.) led things off with a single. Shelbi Thornhill (Hardinsburg, Ky.) was the only other Patriot to record a hit.

Holly Smith will now look to the offseason and finding a way to replace the five seniors that will graduate.
