St. Catharine, Ky. – The volleyball recruiting season is in full swing for Jason McDannold as he tries to replace a void that four seniors left last year after graduation.
McDannold added another to the 2015-16 class when he signed Roni Pollard. Pollard has been a standout for the last several seasons at Brown High School in Louisville, Ky. She has been with the Lady Bears for the last six years.
She began playing volleyball in the fourth grade and she quickly began playing in the high school ranks when she was in the seventh grade. She has primarily been a middle blocker and outside hitter for her two club teams – MidAmerica Volleyball Association (MAVA) and Kentucky-Indiana Volleyball Academy (KIVA).
During her time at Brown High School, Pollard has shined for the Lady Bears on the court. In 2012 and 2013 she was an All-Tournament Player at the First Spike Varsity division. Also in 2013, Pollard was named to the Kentucky Touch Stone Energy All “A” Classic All-Tournament Team.
Then this past season in 2014 Pollard experienced one of her most successful seasons as a volleyball player. She was named the Most Outstanding Player in the First Spike Division. She was also named to the All-Tournament team and she recorded the most blocks in the tournament. Then in the 26th District Tournament she was named to the All-Tournament team.
“Roni is a great addition for the 2015-16 class. I’m really excited to have her join the volleyball family,” stated head coach Jason McDannold. “She will provide a much needed boost to our rotation next season.”
Pollard will join the rest of the 2015-16 signees in early August in time for the 2015 fall semester.
