Georgetown, Ky. – The Patriot women’s golf team wrapped up their play at the Bluegrass Fall Classic yesterday at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky.
Junior, Brianna Cornett finished the tournament in a tie for fourth place after finishing with a two day total of 172. The Danville, Ky. native entered her second round just four strokes off the pace in a tie for third place, but struggled in the second round with a 90. Although she struggled in the second round, Cornett was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Taylor Ritchie also had a strong showing at the Bluegrass Fall Classic. Ritchie shot an 89 in the second round after firing an 87 in the first round. The Winchester, Ky. native was named to the Bluegrass Fall Classic All-Tournament Team for her two day total of 176.
Sophomore, Ashley Green (Bardstown, Ky.) showed tremendous improvement in the second round. Green struggled in her first round with a 104, but she came out in the second round and finished 10 shots better with a 94.
Katie Wheatley (Bardstown, Ky.) was also in action at the Bluegrass Fall Classic. Wheatley finished with a 103 in the opening round and then shot a 105 in the final 18 holes.
The Patriots finished the tournament in second place behind the host Georgetown (Ky.).
The Patriot women will now have a week off before they play their next tournament on September 21st and 22nd at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament at Elks Country Club in Portsmouth, Ohio.
