Hanover, Ind. – It took just 36 seconds for Bradley Wilson to net his fifth goal of the season against Hanover on Saturday.
Wilson’s goal just 36 seconds into the game would hold for the game as the Patriot men’s soccer team (4-5) came away with a 1-0 victory over the Panthers (3-6). The Doncaster, England native fired a laser from 20 yards out that curled just inside the left post to give the Patriots the 1-0 lead.
Both teams had other opportunities to score in the remaining 44 minutes and change in the first half, but neither team could find the back of the net. Joe Jessop (Lincoln, England) had his shot in the seventh minute saved by keeper. Bradley Wilson had another shot in the 24th minute, but right there was the keeper for the save. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Patriots at halftime.
The second half was much like the first half as it was full of near misses. Hanover had a header in the 53rd minute go just wide of the goal. Just four minutes later was Marvin Wesselburg (Essen, Germany) who fired a shot, but once again the keeper was right there. The Patriot defense stood tall over the final minutes as they made the 1-0 lead stand.
Brandon Campbell (Louisville, Ky.) started in goal and played all 90 minutes for the Patriots. Campbell recorded two saves go along with his second shutout of the season.
The Patriots will return to action this Wednesday when they host Georgetown College in the back end of a doubleheader at 8 p.m. ET.
