Bardstown, Ky. -- The Patriot women's golf team finished up the first round of the St. Catharine College Fall Tournament at Bardstown Country Club in Bardstown, Ky. today.
The Patriots sit in fifth place after shooting a 361 in the opening round. They trail Indiana University East by ten strokes (351) heading into the second round. The seven team field is chasing Pikeville (Ky.) who compiled a 314 in the first round.
Brianna Cornett (Danville, Ky.) led all Patriot scorers in the opening 18 holes after shooting an 83. Cornett will enter the second round in a tie for 13th place. Ayla Rhinesmith of UPIKE leads the field after the first round after posting an even-par 72.
Katy Laman (Dunnville, Ky.) was also in action at the first round. Laman posted a 90 in the opening 18 holes.
Four strokes behind Laman finished the final two Patriots that rounded out the scoring, Taylor Ritchie (Winchester, Ky.) and Ashley Green (Bardstown, Ky.). Ritchie and Green both finished their round with a 94.
The final round will take place at Bardstown Country Club on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m. ET.
