Bardstown, Ky. -- Brianna Cornett finished the St. Catharine College Fall Tournament in 10th place on Tuesday afternoon at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood in Bardstown, Ky.
The Danville, Ky. native experienced a career best today at the end of the final round. Cornett finished the opening round with an 83 and she followed that up with an 81 in the second round. It is the best two-day tournament score in the career of Cornett. Kathryn Lawler of Midway (Ky.) was the individual winner finishing with a 150 (75-75).
Katy Laman (Dunnville, Ky.) had a good two rounds for her first tournament of the fall season. Laman finished the opening 18 holes with a 90 and she improved by four strokes in the second round shooting an 86.
Sophomore, Taylor Ritchie (Winchester, Ky.) made great strides in her second round. She posted a 94 in the first round, but came out in the second round and fired an 85. Here 36 hole total of 179 was good enough for a finish in 22nd place.
Her teammate, Ashley Green (Bardstown, Ky.) finished out the scoring for the Patriots. Green posted a total score of 195 (94-101) over the tournament’s two days.
As a team the Patriots showed improvement from the first round to the second. They shot a 361 in the first round and they followed that up with a 353 in the second round. Pikeville (Ky.) was the eventual winner of the tournament finishing with a two-round total of 637 (314-323).
St. Catharine will have one more tournament before they wrap up their fall schedule. They will return to the course on October 26 and 27 when they travel to Bowling Green, Ky. for the Mid-South Conference Fall Roundup at Bowling Green Country Club – the same site that will host the Mid-South Conference Championship in the spring 2016.
