Hardeeville, S.C. – The St. Catharine College men and women’s cross country teams were in action this past weekend when they traveled east to Hardeeville, South Carolina to compete in the ASICS Sand Shark Invitational.
On the women’s side, the Sand Shark Invitational featured 264 individual runners and 28 teams. Fellow Mid-South Conference member Shawnee State (Ohio) took home the title.
The Patriot women were led by Brooke Estes. The Greensburg, Ky. native finished the 5K with a time of 22:09.17.
Next up was the duo of Elise Mills (Louisville, Ky.) and Kelsey Hayden (Louisville, Ky.). Mills finished with a time of 22:31.09 and not too long after that came Hayden who finished in 22:53.83. Both Mills and Hayden finished with a time that topped their personal best.
The final two Patriot harriers to finish were Patricia Moyer (Oneida, N.Y.) and Maggie Goben (Louisville, Ky.). Patricia Moyer turned in a time of 26:28.57 – a personal best. Goben, like her three teammates, also turned in a personal best finishing with a time of 28:47.05.
The men’s side on the other hand, featured 31 teams and 276 individual runners. Berea (Ky.) won the event finishing with 72 points.
Austin Middleton led the trio of Patriot harriers. Middleton, a native of Montgomery, Alabama, finished the 8K with a time of 29:03.29 – a personal best in his career.
The final two Patriots to finish the event were Cody Coffey (Danville, Ky.) and Cody Cooper (Danville, Ky.). Coffey finished the event with a time of 35:49.49. Cooper’s time of 35:05.19 was a personal best.
St. Catharine will have a week to prepare for the Mid-South Conference Championship that takes place on November 7th at Phil Moore Parke in Bowling Green, Ky.
