Friday, October 30 - The St. Catharine College Men's Soccer team hosted to Mid South Conference rival Pikeville College today. The match was played at Mercer County High School in nearby Harrodsburg, Kentucky due to poor playing conditions at Barber Field on the SCC campus.
Prior to the game, Zack Bailes, a Harrodsburg resident and standout Goalkeeper for Mercer County High School signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to play soccer for SCC in the Fall of 2010. Zack is the son of Wayne and Mindy Bailes and played soccer at Mercer County for David Welsh. He was also a member of the Central Kentucky Soccer Club team coached by Brent Beauman. He was Team Captain his junior year at MCHS and earned All Tournament recognition at the Anderson County Tournament. He is a member of the A-B Honor Roll and also made the All-State Academic Team all four years of High School. He is currently undecided on a course of study at St. Catharine.
"I am excited to be able to sign Zack prior to our game, and on his home field. This is not an opportunity we have had before," noted Patriot Coach Paul Patton. "Zack is an outstanding Goalkeeper, and I am excited that he had chosen to join our squad. We have been blessed with excellent 'keeper play over the last three years, and I am sure that Zack will learn from our current goalies and continue that excellent play after they graduate."
