Harrodsburg, Ky. – With the Patriot men’s golf team currently in the offseason, head coach, Joan Rizer has hit the road recruiting for the 2016-17 season.
Rizer recently traveled to Harrodsburg, Kentucky where she received her first commitment for next season. Austin Satterly, a senior from Mercer County High School, recently signed his letter of intent to join the Patriot golf program next year.
Satterly noted that he fell in love with St. Catharine after recently going on a visit, “After the season was over I went and took a visit and really liked it.” Not only did I like the coaching staff and the team, but I also liked the small classroom sizes and the campus,” said Satterly.
Satterly recently competed in the region tournament, where he finished tied for 21st in the tournament.
Head Coach, Joan Rizer knows that she is getting a great golfer, but she made sure to stress the importance that academics always comes first.
“I am recruiting kids that want to get an education. Austin wants an education, but he also wants to play golf,” said Rizer. “It is all about getting an education first and golf is just about the added fun when you get there.”
Although the education comes first, Rizer is going to give Satterly the chance to come in and compete for a varsity spot.
