WOMEN'S GOLF INKS KERN

St. Catharine, Ky. – Just a couple of weeks after signing her first men’s golfer for the 2016-17 season, St. Catharine College golf coach Joan Rizer received her first letter of intent on the women’s side.

Haley Kern, a senior at Circleville High School in Circleville, Ohio officially put pen to paper and signed her scholarship to join the St. Catharine College women’s golf team.

Kern has been named to the Buckeye Division Honorable Mention. Not only is Kern an accomplished golfer, but she is a good student as well. She is a member of the Academic All-League Team and Academic All-Ohio. Kern is also a three-year academic letter at Circleville and she has been named to the honor roll on different occasions.

Although Kern is coming to golf, her new head coach, Joan Rizer assures that obtaining her education is the number one goal, “When I recruit kids, I tell them that the academics always comes first.” “It is all about getting an education first.”

Rizer also noted, “I am really excited to have Haley join the golf program, she will be a great addition to the program.”

Haley noted that she plans on majoring in elementary education when she comes to campus in August 2016 in preparation for the fall 2016 semester. She will also serve as a manager for the Patriot wrestling team.
