St. Catharine, Ky. -- The St. Catharine College softball team was picked to finish tied for fourth in the Mid-South Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches’ Poll released by conference officials on Wednesday.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) – who was the NAIA National Tournament runner-up and the defending MSC tournament champion – has been chosen as the favorite with 47 voting points and five of the eight first-place votes.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
Defending regular season champion Campbellsville (Ky.) is tabbed to finish second. The Tigers finished with 45 voting points while picking up the remaining three first-place votes. Georgetown (Ky.) rounds out the top three with 36 voting points.
Tied with St. Catharine in fourth place is Pikeville (Ky.). Both teams picked up 24 voting points. Cumberland (Tenn.) picked up 22 voting points in sixth place, while Cumberlands (Ky.) and Shawnee State (Ohio) round out the poll with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
St. Catharine will begin their season on February 12th and 13th when they travel to Pulaski, Tennessee for the Martin Methodist College Meltdown. Their home opener is set for February 19th when they take on Purdue University Calumet (Ind.) at Salt River Electric Field with first pitch set for 1 p.m. ET.
