Marion, Ind. – For the third time this season, the St. Catharine track and field team was in action at the Midwest Classic Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
Chris Elliott (Louisville, Ky.) led the Patriots on the men’s side in the 200 meters where he finished with a time of 24.59. The only other event that Elliott participated in was the long jump where he cleared 6.18 meters.
Tyler Dunn (Harrodsburg, Ky.) also has a strong performance for the Patriots. Dunn took home a fourth place finish in the triple jump finishing with a distance of 12.12 meters. He joined Elliott in the long jump with a distance of 5.83 meters.
The lone Patriot distance runner, Austin Middleton, recorded a personal best in the 5,000 meter run. The Montgomery, Ala. native finished the 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:56.78.
Cody Coffey (Danville, Ky.) competed in a pair of events at IWU. His first event came in the 200 meters where he finished with a mark of 24.79. He also joined his teammates in the long jump where he cleared 5.67 meters.
The Patriot throwers were led by Andrew Martin (Louisville, Ky.) in the shot put. Martin finished with a distance of 11.03 meters, while Derek Clemens (Taylorsville, Ky.) and Cody Cooper (Danville, Ky.) cleared 10.98 and 10.48 meters, respectively.
The Patriot women were led by freshman Shaelyn Waller (Louisville, Ky.). Waller finished fifth in the 60 meter dash with a mark of 8.13. She finished with a time of 29.61 in the 200 meter run while she cleared a distance of 4.96 meters in the long jump.
Running a personal best in the 3,000 meter run was Elise Mills (Shepherdsville, Ky.). Mills finished with a time of 12:24.59 in the event. Nicole Schowalter (Dayton, Ky.) joined Mills in the event with a 12:34.63 mark.
Freshman, Taryne Knott (Brandenburg, Ky.) joined her teammate in the 200 meter run. Knott turned in a time of 30.24.
The Patriots will now have a couple of weeks to prepare for the Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invitational which is scheduled for Saturday, February 27th, in Anderson, Indiana.
