St. Catharine, Ky. -- St. Catharine men’s basketball senior, Chris Johnson was named the Mid-South Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week , conference officials announced on Monday.
Johnson led the Patriots last week averaging 26 points, nine rebounds and two steals in a pair of loses to top-25 teams.
To start the week against No. 23 Cumberlands (Ky.), Johnson poured in a game-high 34 points, while grabbing eight rebounds and recording one steal as the Patriots dropped the road contest, 88-83.
Johnson followed that up with double-double against No. 4 Pikeville (Ky.). In the Patriots 87-70 loss to the Bears, Johnson scored 18 points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Johnson’s numbers rank among the best in Mid-South. His 20.96 points per game is best in the MSC. His numbers also rank among the best in the nation. He ranks seventh in the NAIA in total scoring (524) and 11th in points per game (20.96).After the week the Patriots move to 7-19 overall and 3-10 in league play. They are back in action on Thursday when they take on Cumberland (Tenn.) at 8 p.m. ET. Then on Saturday, the Patriots will host Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) for senior day.
