St. Catharine, Ky. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently announced that 59 wrestling student-athletes had been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
The St. Catharine wrestling team had two members that were named to the list. Senior, Shelby Floyd (Upton, Ky.) and junior, Teagan Overturf (Ignacio, Colo.) garnered the first honor in their career.
Floyd and Overturf become the first two members in the history of the St. Catharine wrestling program to earn Scholar-Athlete honors.
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
