Bowling Green, Ky. -- The Patriot women’s golf team wrapped up their 2016 spring season on Wednesday afternoon when they completed the third round of the Mid-South Conference Women’s Golf Championships at Bowling Green Country Club.
Taylor Ritchie (Winchester, Ky.) led the Patriots as the top finisher. Ritchie didn’t fare as well in her final round where she turned in a 91. Her best round came in the opening 18 holes on Monday where she turned in an 85.
Junior, Brianna Cornett (Danville, Ky.) finished 10 strokes behind Ritchie with a three-round total of 276. Cornett struggled in her final round where she carded a 96. Cornett’s best round came on Tuesday when she fired an 87.
Katie Wheatley (Bardstown, Ky.) and Andrea Spalding (Springfield, Ky.) finished out the scoring for the Patriots. Wheatley improved in every round and capped it off with a 101 on Wednesday, while Spalding finished with a 115 in the final round.
As a team the Patriots turned in a seventh place finish with a third round score of 403. Cumberlands (Ky.) won the event easily by 28 strokes over Campbellsville (Ky.) after finishing with a three day total of 910.
Joan Rizer’s club will now turn their attention to the offseason as they get a chance to rest and fine tune their skills for next season.
