St. Catharine, Ky. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Wednesday that 353 baseball student-athletes have been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes.
Two members of the St. Catharine baseball team garnered scholar-athlete honors. The senior duo of Daniel Lerma and Alex Knowles were named to the list.
Lerma, a native of Oxnard, Calif. is making his first career appearance on the list, while Knowles, a native of Huntington Beach, Calif. is making his second straight appearance on the list.
In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
