Carissa Signore, a senior forward from Copley, Ohio, signed to play soccer for St. Catharine College on Friday. Signore played at Pennine United Soccer club under Coach Wayne Jentas. Her team won several accolades including 2005 AIM Tournament U-17 Runner up, Erie Admirals Flagship Champions, and 2004 Canton Cup U-14 Champions.
Signore was also active in Band, playing the french horn in both the marching band and the symphonic band at Copley High School. She was named Outstanding band member in 2004 and 2005 as well as being a member of the band council. Carissa was also active in the Varsity Science Olypiad Team and the Chess Club.
Carissa is looking forward to being a part of the St. Catharine Soccer Program, "I am excited to come play for St. Catharine and hope that I will be able to have an impact on the team immediately," she said. Patriot Coach Paul Patton echoed those sentiments, "Carissa is a well rounded student-athlete that will represent the Soccer Program and the School well. She is a strong forward that can shoot with both feet. That will make her a threat at any of the attacking positions. I am very happy that she has chosen to join our program."
Carissa also won the Ohio Scholar-Athlete award and has been a member of the honor roll her entire high school career. She will double major in Radiography and Biology with plans to go on to Medical School after she has finished at St. Catharine.
