Thursday, September 25 - The St. Catharine Lady Patriots soccer team traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana today for a game against the St. Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroys. The Patriots had the better of the play early on, and took the lead with a goal by Leah Wright off the assist from Ashley Thompkins in the eighteenth minute. The score remained the same, with mostly even play, until the fortieth minute when Pomeroy Erin Pugh scored to even it up. St. Mary-of-the-Woods would take the lead in the 44th minute on a goal from Erika Garcia.
With the halftime score 2-1 in favor of the Pomeroys, the Patriots came out trying to even things up. Unfortunately things went the other way with St. Mary-of-the-Woods scoring 3 more goals in the first 20 minutes of the half to take a 5-1 lead. Although the Patriots fought hard, and earned several more scoring chances, they were unable to cut the lead, and the final remained Pomeroys 5, SCC 1.
