Sunday, September 6 - The St. Catharine College Lady Patriots Soccer team took on Spalding in a road match today. Throughout the game, the play was somewhat rough, with both teams playing physically. SCC took the lead when Monica Milesky scored in the 13th minute off a pass from Krista Russell. St. Catharine widened the lead to 2 when Megan Metcalf picked up her first goal of the season in the 30th minute.
SCC came out from halftime fired up and scored 2 minutes in when Natalie Hurst netted her first ever college goal off a pass from Monica Milesky. A brief letdown immediately afterward let Spalding into the SCC goalmouth, and Shelby Myers cut the deficit to 3-1. The remaining portion of the match was a seesaw battle with both teams earning chances. Neither team was able to capitalize on those chances, and the game went into the books at St. Catharine 3 - Spalding 1.
Next up for SCC will be Berea College in a home game on Saturday, September 12 at 2:00 pm.
