Saturday, September 12 - The SCC women's soccer team hosted Berea College in a home match today. The match looked to be all SCC from the beginning with the Patriots controlling the vast majority of the play. Despite taking 11 shots to Berea's 2, the score remained knotted at 0 when the first half came to a close.
The second half would be much the same story, with St. Catharine controlling the play, and Berea defending well. In the 56th minute, Krista Russell controlled a pass from Monica Milesky and slotted it into the corner for a 1-0 SCC lead. Later, in the 83rd minute, Amber King would play a nice pass up the wing for Natalie Hurst, who crossed to the middle to Russell, who put the ball away for her second of the game.
The score held up, and the final was SCC 2 - Berea 0. Lee Ann Walker made three saves during the match to preserve the shutout, her second of the season. The Lady Patriots now hold a 3-1 record going into a matchup with Midway on Thursday.
