Friday, March 19, 2010 - The St. Catharine College Women's Soccer team picked up another quality recruit today as Emily Grulke signed an NAIA letter of intent to play her collegiate soccer at SCC. Flanked by her parents, she officially joined the Patriots in a ceremony at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia. Grulke, a midfielder and defender, played 3 years for Coach Tinklebaugh's Collins Hill squad, was Captain of her Atlanta Fire United team, and was a member of the Alpharatta Ambush Elite team that won the U19 division of the Atlanta Cup this year. She is the daughter of Jim and Brenda Grulke and plans to graduate with a degree in Business from St. Catharine.
Patriot Coach Paul Patton, on hand for the ceremony, spoke highly of Grulke. "Emily is an outstanding player, and she has all the tools to be very successful at SCC. Coach Brooks saw her play defender in the Norcross Cup and knew we had to recruit her. After watching her play at midfield, I felt that he was right and her versatility would be huge asset for the team. I expect Emily to make an immediate impact on our squad."
