Thursday, April 29, 2010 - Danielle Mistler picked up a pretty big addition to her awards collection at this year's Annual Purple and Gold Awards Ceremony. Mistler was honored as the Female Athlete of the Year for 2009-2010 at the ceremony held in the Spalding Student & Community Center, on the St. Catharine College Campus Thursday night. Patriot Women's Soccer Coach, Paul Patton presented her with the award.
Mistler, one of the first players Coach Patton recruited when he took over the Soccer Program at SCC, has put her stamp on the program and pretty much written the records books. Danielle played mostly midfield in high school and club soccer, but quickly became the starting sweeper for the Lady Patriots. Danielle was a member of the team for the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons and is one of the first two players to ever play on the SCC Women' s Soccer team for 4 years.
She was voted captain by her teammates three of those years (2007, 2008, 2009), was named team Most Valuable Player three of those years (2006, 2007, 2008), and earned the Coaches Award in 2009. She is the career leader in both games played and games started, having started and played in all but 8 games during her four years. The only 8 games she missed were due to injury. Danielle was also named Honorable Mention All Mid South Conference in 2008 and 2009, the first two years that SCC has been a member of the MSC.
Not only is she an outstanding soccer player, but she is a strong student. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Pharmacy Tech in May of 2009 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree. Danielle holds a 3.2 GPA.
