Tuesday, September 7, 2010 - The SCC Women's Soccer team traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to take on Trevecca Nazarene University for their third road game in six days. SCC jumped out to the early lead when Krista Russell put home a shot off a throw in from Sarah Castillo just 5 minutes into the game. The first half was a seesaw battle that saw chances at both ends, but the score remained 1-0 at the intermission.
Trevecca turned up the pressure in the second half as the Patriots looked a bit fatigued from all the travel. Trevecca's Justine Forth scored 13 minutes into the half to tie the score at 1. Fifteen minutes later, an attempted clearance of a Trevecca cross deflected the wrong way, resulting in an own goal for St. Catharine and a 1 goal lead for Trevecca. With time running down, and SCC pushing forward in an attempt to tie up the score, Trevecca clear the ball for a counter attack that resulted in a corner kick. Aubree Thomas of TNU headed home the corner for the 3-1 victory.
St. Catharine falls to 1-2-0 on the season while Trevecca improves to 1-2-1. St. Catharine will be back in action for their home opener on Saturday, September 11 at 2pm versus Berea College.
