Saturday, October 23, 2010 - SCC's Women's Soccer Team hosted Midway College today. SCC jumped out early with 3 goals in the first 4 minutes. Michelle Dunaway opened the scoring by putting the ball away after Emily Caras's shot caromed off the post. Krista Russell scored moments later off a pass from Caras, and Emily would get the third goal herself off a pass from Russell. After the early flurry of goals, Midway would change Goalkeepers, but to no avail. The Lady Patriots kept up the pressure and went on to a 9-0 victory.

The scoring was as follows: Krista Russell (4 G / 1 A), Emily Caras (1 G / 3 A), Paola Martinez (1 G, 1 A), Michelle Dunaway (1 G), Cortney Mattingly (1 G), Mallory Arneson (1 G), Sarah Castillo (1 A), Cheyenne Hess (1 A), Ashley Lazaros (1 A). The win moves the Patriots to 8-8-0 on the season with two games remaining.

Saturday was also Senior Day, and the team honored their lone senior, Stephanie Gentry, prior to the game. In her 4 year career at St. Catharine she played in 53 games, starting 37. She has been a Captain of the team for two years and is only the third player in the program’s history to play all 4 years. She has also been nominated for the NAIA Champions of Character Award.
