Edelen-Haydon Field will be in its 16th year of use in 2014-15. This on campus facility is a natural grass field. The playing surface is bermuda grass and is overseeded with rye grass each year.
The skinned surface is a dirt blend from Alabama. This sand, silica and clay mixture allows the Patriots to play in many different weather conditions. It is topdressed with Mule Mix infield conditioner, which allows for great drainage and a smooth infield surface.
The outfield fence is six feet high with protective capping. White pines line the outfield fence and provide a great hitters background in centerfield. Dimensions at Edelen-Haydon are 330 feet down each line, 375 in the gaps and 400 to centerfield.
The state of the art facility has a restroom, umpire locker room and full serve concessions. Also, a large pressbox with public address, inning by inning scoreboard and live webcasting. Live video feeds will be added for every home game this year. The field has onsite covered and lighted hitting area with cage and soft toss/T areas. Seating capacity is 500.
