Continuing their brutal non-conference schedule Monday, the St. Catharine College Patriots took on Life University from Marietta, Georgia in Lourdes Hall. And when the battle was over, the verdict was a 95-80 victory for St. Catharine.
“This was a good win against a quality team,” said SC coach J. T. Burton of the visiting Eagles who were ranked 21st nationally in the pre-season. “We played well in the second half to pull away.”
St. Catharine, 5-2, held a 45-41 lead at halftime but slowly pulled away after intermission. Junior guard Marquis Lee, in his first year at St. Catharine, had a season high 26 points on 7-9 shooting from the field. Brandon Johnson added 13, Antoine Watson 11 and Josh Peery 10.
St. Catharine enjoyed its best shooting night of the season with 53 percent (27-51) from the field. The Patriots were 9-18 from three point range led by Johnson’s four treys.Life, 5-7, shot 46 percent from the field and was 5-14 (36 percent) from behind the arc.
