Three St. Catharine College Baseball player's have been selected 2011 NAIA Player's to Watch by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. The trio join a long list of present and former Patriots that have been honored by the publication.
Seniors Ryan Mangione (Lexington, KY), Tim Paxton (Louisville, KY) and sophomore transfer Josh Jillson (Wales, ME) were named by the Magazine as NAIA Top Stars to watch in 2011. Mangione was named 2010 MSC Gold Glove winner at SS. He fielded .955 with just 10 errors in over 220 chances and only 2 miscues in 27 conference games. Paxton appeared in a team high 23 games last year with a 5-1 record and added 2 saves. He tossed 56.1 innings with a 4.15 ERA and 51 K's. Jillson transferred from Southern Maine University. The left handed hurler has a power fastball and has peaked the interest of several major league clubs.
"It's a great honor for the team and these guys," noted Patriot Coach Luther Bramblett. "All three of these guys have worked extremely hard and will be keys cogs to the sucess of our season."
The Patriots open up Feb. 4th in Mobile, AL against teh University of Mobile.
