The Patriots swept visiting Indiana Wesleyan University Saturday to even their record at 7-7-1. The Pat's won 4-2 behind a Tim Paxton (Louisville, KY) complete game effort in game 1 and won game 2 when Andrew Garcia (Las Vegas, NV) singled home Carlos Hernandez (Fresno, CA) with the walkoff win, 3-2.
Paxton went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned while scattering 7 hits. He struck out 5 and had no walks. Garcia went 2-3 with 3 RBI's and was the only Bat Pat with more than one hit. Richie Stanley (Owensboro, KY) doubled and Ryan Mangione (Lexington, KY) went 1-1 with 2 walks, a stolen base and scored a run.
Matt Pavelich (Tucson, AZ) started the second game, tossing 6.2 innings and allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. He scattered 4 hits and had 3 K's. Matt Wagner (Brooks, KY) recorded the last out, striking out the only hitter he faced to pick up the win. Hernandez was the only Patriot with more than one hit, going 2-4 with 2 doubles, a game tying RBI and scored the winning run. Garcia added 2 more RBI's to the day with a sac fly and the game winning hit. Juan Moriel (San Diego, CA) doubled and scored a run.
The Patriots are back in action tomorrow when they host Miami University-Middletown with a 1:00 DH.
